Steve knows they are still alive, as they haven't responded to any of the family seances, so he decided to live it up and lean into his deviancy by becoming popular, being a sports star, and date nice normal girls. His loving parents decide to leave him to it for a while while taking their 37th honeymoon to the Bermuda Triangle.
